“When Koti täällä ("The home that is here") first started taking its shape, I didn’t plan to make a concept album. However, I experienced such a powerful shift when moving back to Finland from Poland that the theme of finding home and a place of my own found its way onto the album without me noticing.
Most of the songs on the album are love songs, but they also reflect the idea of belonging to a place or a person – and conversely, that sometimes the feeling of home evaporates like smoke into thin air.
Although in my case the change is due to moving back to one's home country, I think that quite a few people who have reached middle age may share this feeling: that in their own lives, home is in many places at the same time: it can be in a place, in a memory or a person, and yet not really anywhere at all.”
